The Cruzer Micro U3 Smart USB key is much more than a external storage device. It comes with the all-in-one "U3 Smart" solution, which includes CruzerSync, SignupShield, Skype and AVAST software, and it is equipped with a USB 2.0 connection for high-speed data transfers. The Cruzer Micro U3 Smart USB key is a practical and reliable storage solution that goes wherever you do!

customer reviews: SanDisk Cruzer Micro 8GB U3 Readyboost Flash Drive
|
Customer Rating: Summary: U3 is a pain. Comment: The memory stick is ok, but a bit fiddly.
The U3 is a right pain in the neck. Maybe I just don't understand how to make the most of it, but more likely U3 is a fancy bit of software that gets in the way, while trying to take command of your files and giving you the impression that you have two drives on the same memory stick.
In the end I deleted the U3 and re-formatted the stick. Now it functions as a simple memory stick, but at least I know where I am with it.
As for Ready Boost, it is perhaps indicative of memory stick speed but I found it gets in the way of easy use of the memory stick and is of little benefit on my quad core machine, so I don't use it either.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hmmmmm Comment: OK, maybe the one I had but.
On detect it said not formatted. Then it failed to detect at all on re-boot. Tried another PC and the same problem. Must have spent two hours playing with this trying to get it to work.
Sorry Guy's but mine is on it's way back.
Customer Rating: Summary: Big Memory - Small Stick... Comment: I wrote a review for the 1GB version of the same memory stick about a year ago and I would like to say a few things about this one.
After skimming through some of the so-so reviews and a couple of the not-so ones I noticed that a major gripe that people experienced with the cruzer was the lack of durability and technical problems surrounding the U3 software that comes included.
It was my personal preference to remove the U3 software immediately as it conflicts with networks that implement restrictions on self-executing software (such as at my college), which has made accessing and saving work difficult at times. Alas the cruzer loses its password capability but retains its functionality as a storage device.
In terms of durability I have never encountered any problems with the memory stick. Despite its plastic construction it has withstood every day-to-day test such as dropping, slamming, forcing the mechanism etc. One would have to be careless to cause lasting damage to this thing.
Without a doubt this is a superb memory stick and at the price it's worth every penny.
Customer Rating: Summary: good price for a good device Comment: Agreeing with some of the other reviews the drive does feel a bit weak especially the retracting USB connector, however Flash memory is fairly robust so I am sure a bit of tape would patch up the casing! I have had no problems with the drive or the casing. This was the cheapest 8GB drive I could find I bought one as a gift and one for myself for less then I have seen these advertised at!! The U3 software is a bit intrusive, but can be completely removed, I would recommend portable apps as an open source alternative which doesn't require the CD Drive Emulation which causes the Drive to appear twice in your Windows list (U3 CD DRIVE and a USB Mass Storage Device), However this is not directly a function of the drive so does not affect its usefulness. On the whole Good value for money!
Customer Rating: Summary: good value, good little stick. Comment: I have owned this memory stick for about 4 months now. I use it on lots of different networked computers in different building and it works well. It is well constructed, i simpll attached it to my keyring and its been their for 4 months ith no build problems evident. It is robust, cheap and excellent value for money. If you want a cheap, robust stick that then this is it. The software on the stick seems to of little use and I have have not used it so cannot comment on it.
